Are You Considering Teeth Whitening?

Posted .

What causes teeth to change color?

There are a number of reasons why your teeth may become discolored or stained over time. Some of the most common reasons for teeth staining include:

– Age

– Bright or dark food and beverages

– Trauma

– Smoking and chewing tobacco

– Certain medications

How does teeth whitening work?

The whitening product breaks up stains on the teeth, so the stain appears less concentrated and the teeth appear brighter and whiter.

Will whitening work on all teeth?

Sadly, teeth whitening will not work on all teeth. Because of this, it is important that you consult with Dr. Hajra Sheikh before choosing to whiten your teeth. Teeth whitening will have no effect on dental restorations like veneers, dental crowns, and dental bridges.

What are my whitening options at New Hampshire Center for Comprehensive Dentistry?

If you are a candidate for teeth whitening, there are two Zoom whitening options that our dentist can provide. If you choose in-office whitening, a protective gel or a rubber shield will be applied to your gums. The bleaching product is then applied directly to the teeth. A special light will be used to activate the whitening product. If you prefer to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your home, at-home whitening may be for you. Our dentist can provide you with a custom-made whitening tray, which you should wear as instructed with the bleaching product. The tray is used for one to two weeks to reach noticeable results.
